A poll on LinkedIn tends to get people excited and engaged
LinkedIn has gradually become a bubbling brew of AI slop with the same remixes of truisms, “advice” and keys to the kingdom. It is increasingly rare to find voices of note with original things to say.
For the past two years I have tried regularly posting with different approaches. Lists in carousels, “thought leadership” essay type posts, straight up promo of my services, and a bundle of other bits in between.
But the stuff that actually engages and stimulates conversation?

Generally it is (unsurprisingly) anything moderately human and personal. We are all craving a real thought. Original thought. The perspective of a fellow human being.
At the heart of that is the LinkedIn poll. It seems to get real traction.

But rather than create polls that ask profound professional questions (they’re fine, but don’t do that much), I have decided to see post the silliest surveys to simply test the elasticity of the algorithm.

I’m not saying this is clever or a surefire way to get to 10K followers, but it is a real way to have fun and show a bit of personality. And, once I decided that LinkedIn is a place to build a “personal brand”, then all the rules go out the window.

Try it out yourself and see what happens.
