World-class creativity workshop in Dublin: How to set your ideas free

A human-centred creativity workshop where innovative ideas flew and grew

Kalle doesn’t just teach creativity, he makes you experience it. One line he shared has stuck with me ever since: “We are all just a story we tell ourselves every day.”

Just concluded a great morning at Trinity College Business School welcoming the incoming MSc Marketing students with “Create & Connect”, my latest creativity workshop. As well as debuting over 100 world premieres of new creative work, we managed to really connect and spark some fresh creative ideas!

We kicked off the session with “Sending a wish”, where I asked them all to write something down that they wished they did more often.

Then they learned how to fold a paper plane (a dying art!) out of their written wish and launched it out into the universe.

Set your wish free!

And they were kind enough to consent to me filming it and to share it here. It offers a little snapshot of the spirit of fun and trust we built in that room together.

The workshop continued along the same positive path from there, as we explored rapid idea generation, visual storytelling (we designed our own album covers!) and short-form & long-form writing. We even dabbled in a bit of creative philosophy from John Berger, Maya Angelou and James Joyce.

In the spirit of creative risk-taking, I personally tried out an experimental new presentation format to introduce the Swedish concept of “Skaparglädje”, and it really clicked with everyone. It really only worked because the students trusted me in this creative leap and they also gave me permission to stumble. Which was the core premise at the very heart of the creativity workshop. A proud shared moment.

It was a pleasure and a joy connecting with this group of thoughtful souls. Thanks to all the students who gave so generously of their time and spirit, and thanks, as always to Stephen Murphy for the invitation.

But don’t just take it from me, this creativity workshop at Trinity received some of my most positive feedback and testimonials ever:

Kalle made me connect with creativity in a way I hadn’t for so long, and reminded me that we can still create from a real, human place even when it feels like AI is taking over everything

Loved the session today, it was so refreshing and such a beautiful reminder of how important creativity truly is. Lately, I’ve felt like it was fading, especially with AI taking over, but this session brought that spark back. I had so much fun from start to finish and left feeling genuinely inspired. ✨ Thank you Kalle Ryan

One of the best sessions I attended and it still is close to me.

I walked out of that room feeling inspired, lighter, and grateful to be surrounded by such a thoughtful, creative group of people.

Such a fun and refreshing way to kick things off 🚀

Filled with a lot of valuable insights and a bit of fun too!

Kalle, you set the perfect tone for us… It was such a refreshing reminder that we’re all creative in our own ways and that’s exactly what helps us be ourselves… Thanks for the craic
